Breast Cancer Support Group (Sacramento/Elk Grove)

You Don’t Have to Walk This Path Alone

A breast cancer diagnosis can change the way you see your body, your health, your future, and yourself. Whether you were diagnosed recently, are in treatment, are recovering, or have been a survivor for years, this group is a welcoming place to connect with others who understand.

This monthly support group is for sharing, listening, encouragement, and honest conversation. You do not need to have the “right” words. You do not need to be positive all the time. You can come exactly as you are.

A Note from the Host

My name is Lisa Davis. I’ve started this group because I believe no one should walk this path alone.

My own breast cancer journey began on my birthday, May 1, 2013, the day I was diagnosed. I am a survivor, but the road has not always been easy. I’ve lived through the physical challenges of mastectomy and reconstruction, including lasting muscle cramps and limited flexibility. I’ve also carried the emotional weight that can come with breast cancer, including shame, insecurity, fear, and the long process of trying to feel at home in my body again.

I know what it is like to worry about your health while trying to reclaim your sense of self.

My reason for creating this group was simple: I want to connect with others who truly understand. Whether you are newly diagnosed, currently in treatment, recovering, or many years beyond diagnosis, you are welcome here.

Come to share. Come to listen. Come to sit quietly if that is all you can do that day. There is strength in being together.

Who Is Welcome

This group is open to people affected by breast cancer, including those who are:

  • Newly diagnosed

  • Currently in treatment

  • Recovering from surgery, chemotherapy, radiation, or reconstruction

  • Living with long-term physical or emotional effects

  • Survivors at any stage

  • Looking for community, understanding, and support

What to Expect

This is a peer support gathering, not a medical or therapy group. We meet as members of the public in a shared library space.

Our conversations may include diagnosis, treatment, body image, fear, recovery, relationships, emotional healing, practical coping, survivorship, and the everyday reality of living after breast cancer.

You are welcome to participate as much or as little as feels right. Come meet others who understand.

How announcements work

I send monthly announcements a few days before each meetup with the exact location and details. Most often we meet at the library but every so often we stray and meet somewhere else.

To get added to the list, just email me and include your name + email.
