Lisa Davis Art Biography
Art has always been at the center of my world, and I’ve found fulfillment in both personal projects and commercial ventures that challenge me creatively.
My first taste of digital design came in 1986 when I took a BASIC programming class and realized how technology could merge with artistic expression. That experience set me on a course to explore the intersection of art and tech. I went on to study multimedia at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, where I delved deep into traditional art techniques, desktop publishing, and early digital tools.
Over 30 years, I’ve built a career > that spans digital art, immersive experiences, and community-focused projects. I’ve worked for the largest ad agencies in the world and have run my own design and development agency since 2000, serving large and small companies.
I am very passionate about mental health and along the way, I founded a digital therapeutics software company called NewPath, where I lead the development of mobile and virtual reality applications dedicated to mental health > and wellness. This role has allowed me to work closely with psychology associations, hospitals, community programs and tech developers. NewPath has created VR therapy experiences and run programs for veterans, long-term illness patients, and underserved communities. I regularly speak on the topic of digital therapeutics for mental and behavioral health, and ethical software development. I created the largest database of clinical studies in these areas and also published the largest catalog of family-friendly, non-violent virtual reality experiences. I’ve also developed and hosted accredited workshops like Virtual Technologies for Mental and Behavioral Health, helping professionals integrate immersive tech into their practices.
My art has reached audiences globally, with showcases in places like Bern, Switzerland, the UK, and New York City. It’s been featured in publications such as the Journal of Contemporary Painting, AverageArt, and A5 Magazine. Notable projects include my work on the Burning Man VR Art Show and collaborating on an immersive piece for the Luggage Store Gallery in San Francisco, where I combined physical art with interactive digital elements to create a unique experience.

In addition to my art and consulting work, I’m passionate about teaching. I’ve led multi-week digital art courses for the Boys & Girls Club of America, The Salvation Army and conducted digital storytelling workshops for the San Francisco Unified School District. My self-expression art workshops have included trauma-processing sessions at homeless youth shelters, where I introduced body mapping as a way to help participants visualize and express their emotions. I also offer one-on-one training in digital art, focusing on new mediums like VR and AI, tailored to each learner’s goals.
Whether I’m designing a multimedia project, leading a workshop, or mentoring artists, my work is rooted in a blend of creativity, technology, and a deep commitment to making art accessible and transformative.
