Rock Painting for All

Free Community Art Event

Date: March 7, 2026
Time: 10:00 AM–12:30 PM PT
Ages: All ages
Cost: Free (please register)
Location: North Laguna Creek Park

Each year, I hold a free, community rock painting event. This is a relaxed, outdoor art event for anyone who wants to paint, experiment, and enjoy making something by hand. No experience is required, and there’s no formal instruction you need to follow to participate.

Although this is a free event, please register in advance so we know how many rocks, paints, and supplies to bring so that everyone has materials .

What You’ll Do

  • Paint rocks using acrylic paints

  • Create simple designs, patterns, symbols, or words

  • Work at your own pace in a casual, outdoor setting

  • Leave with one or more painted rocks to keep, gift, or place somewhere meaningful

You can paint quietly on your own or chat while you work. Both are welcome.

What’s Provided

All supplies are provided at no cost:

  • Rocks (various sizes)

  • Acrylic paints

  • Brushes

  • Water and basic painting supplies

  • Paper towels and cleanup materials

You do not need to bring anything to participate. Optionally, bring your own rock(s) but please do not remove rocks from protected or natural areas.

Who This Event Is For

  • All skill levels, including complete beginners

  • Adults, families, friends, and community members

  • Ages 12 and under should be accompanied by an adult

This event is:

  • Casual and welcoming

  • Open-ended and creative

  • Community-focused

  • Supplies-included

This event is not:

  • A formal art class

  • Reserved seating

  • A drop-off program for children

  • An all-day event (instead, we end promptly at 12:30 PM)

Finding Us in the Park

We’ll meet at the covered picnic tables next to the small play structure at the north end of the park, near the corner of Jacinto Way and Center Parkway.

If you’re entering the park from Center Parkway, head toward the small playground, the picnic tables are right beside it and covered.

Seating is limited. These are first come, first served. There will be a water-resistant canvas tarp area for participant overflow, especially for kids or people who don’t mind sitting on nature’s beautiful ground.

These events use my own materials and I often buy smooth rocks meant for painting. There is no fee whatsoever for the event.

Any donations whatsoever are welcome with gratitude >
